FOR ALL PROCEDURES
PRIOR TO STOPPING ANY MEDICATION, PLEASE GET APPROVAL FROM YOUR PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN.
- Stop all aspirin and aspirin containing medications, Plavix, Aggrenox and other anti-platelet agents at least 5 days prior to procedure.
- Stop all anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, naproxen, Aleve, Motrin, etc., at least 48 hours prior to procedures. Usually Celebrex, Bextra or Vioxx do not need to be stopped, but if you have any questions, please check with your doctor.
- Stop Vitamin E and Ginko Biloba at least 5 days prior to procedures.
- Stop Coumadin at least 5 days prior to procedures.
- Stop low molecular weight heparin compounds such as Lovenox at least 24 hours prior to procedure.
- Stop all prescriptive or herbal diet medication at least 24 hours prior to procedure.
- If you are diabetic and/or take diabetes medication, please check with your doctor.
IF YOU ARE HAVING SEDATION FOR YOUR PRODECURE:
- You must have an escort drive you home following your procedure. This person must be identified to the staff prior to the start of the procedure.
- Cedars-Sinai policy prohibits our discharging you after sedation if you are unaccompanied this includes leaving our office via cab, bus or car service.
- You may not have anything to eat for 8 hours prior to your procedure.
- Nothing to drink including water, 6 hours prior to the procedure.
- If you usually take medication in the morning, please take it with just sips of water.
